Costa Blanca Sailing Claimed

Costa Blanca Sailing is the only Royal Yachting Association approved Training Centre on the Costa Blanca offering sail, powerboat and motor cruiser training. The RYA is the UK’s governing body for all sail and motor boat activities and authorises us to issue RYA licences for the various categories.

For UK nationals, and citizens of many other countries, the RYA training scheme is the preferred option for a variety of reasons:

• all courses are conducted in English

• the vessels used must be commercially coded meaning that they must adhere to strict safety equipment criteria

• all instructors must have completed a thorough training programme themselves and complete regular updates

• the RYA licence is recognised around the world as the highest standard of maritime licence

Because of this, even commercial Spanish skippers come to us seeking RYA training as most of the world’s leading maritime operators require their crew to be licensed under the UK system.

On achieving a certain level of proficiency, depending on the size and type of craft, holders of an RYA licence can apply direct to the RYA for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) from the RYA, and this is the licence that is accepted by the Guardia Civil here in Spain as proof of competency. This is available to all UK citizens and citizens of certain other countries including Spain and Russia!

It’s important to remember that you MUST have a licence for any type of vessel in Spain, including Jetskis, so don’t go to sea without one!

Costa Blanca Sailing offer practical training in the following disciplines..

• Sail, for use on all sailing yachts, on our 13m Elan Impression training yacht.

• Motor, for use on vessels 10m and over, using our 13m twin engine Jeanneau flybridge.

• Power, for use on boats up to 10m, using our 6.6m Beneteau Flyer fitted with a single 150hp outboard.

For all boats, there are entry level courses for beginners and those with little experience, through to Skipper’s courses, right up to Yachtmaster courses for those looking to go farther afield or work within the industry.

Of course, Costa Blanca Sailing also offers the full range of theory and specialist course such as VHF, Radar, 1^st Aid and Diesel Engine in support of the practical courses.

In addition to the RYA training courses, Costa Blanca Sailing also offers a range of other services including own boat tuition, skippered charters, deliveries and bespoke training programmes.

Our base is here in Alicante town marina, a short taxi ride from the international airport and a short walk into the vibrant old town area of the city. Our sailing area includes Alicante Bay, Tabarca Island and Santa Pola to the south, and the stunning northern Costa Blanca coastline to the north with it’s incredible bays and welcoming marinas. During the summer months we sail over the Balearic islands, to enjoy their world renowned waters, anchorages and beaches. A few times a year, we organise trips further afield to places like Capri, Sicily, Corsica, and Sardinia.
